Spring Means Giveaway Time and more Thank You's

Spring has officially arrived, although by the looks of some parts of the country you'd wonder otherwise.  And I wanted to post this yesterday, but it was birthday party time in the family.  Not my immediate family, but my niece, nephew and BIL all celebrated their birthdays yesterday so it was busy.  Now the only thing wrong with that picture is that I didn't get to partake in cake three times - there was just one party - therefore, one cake!  A big cake, mind you, but just one cake!  Boo!  I love cake and my SIL makes the best ones.  So I wish there were three (although my waist line thanks me for not eating cake three times)!!!

Anyway, so as I'm always a day late and a dollar short, I think it's time to officially celebrate the beginning of Spring.  So to celebrate, it's Giveaway Time (almost as good as cake!).   So what would be good to give away for Spring?  Spring stand for flowers, I think.  And in the Spring, well, frogs start to appear, right?  Of course, to us stitchers frogs seem to appear during all seasons of the year whether we like it or not!  But this frog is a good one.  But it's not green.........

..........it's pink!!!  Another one of those pink flower frogs.  Seems that my thrift shop and antique store jaunt last week paid off.  I found some new ones - but I only made it to one of the stores - this one store was so filled with wonderful things that I didn't have time to make it through the whole thing.  But I met a dear woman who worked there who was as enthusiastic about finding frogs in the store as I was and to top it off,  her mother collected these things.  She passed away and now her daughter doesn't know what to do with them.  Well, she knows what to do with them now!!!  She's been keeping them at home, just bringing in a few at a time, but she's bringing in some more for me to look at next week.  It should be fun.  So my good fortune - well, I want to spread it around.

The rules are really simple, just leave a comment for one chance, become a follower for another chance (or if you're already a follower, you'll get a second chance - I know who you are), and if you post it on your blog, you'll get one more chance.  I'll do the Random Generator thingy on March 29th!  There will be some other goodies with it, but I haven't decided what those will be yet.

I also want to thank a few people for their generosity recently.  I won a beautiful scissor fob from a giveaway that Mylene had and it came in the mail this week:

Isn't it pretty? (pictures are clickable).  Mylene did the most beautiful job stitching this and finishing it off!  Thank you so much Mylene, I love it.  And by the way, it came all the way from the Netherlands.

I also received four more awards this week:

I received the Beautiful Blogger from both Isadarena and from FayeRaye.  I can't tell you how wonderful you girls made me feel.

Sherry and Jennifer both sent me The Sunshine Award.  Jennifer said that I inspired her and I have to say that I'm truly humbled by her comment and the fact that all four of these ladies sent me these awards this week.  I don't feel like much of an inspiration.  It's all of you, the readers of this blog, and who have blogs that I can read that inspire me!!!  I can't tell you how many times someone's gorgeous stitching has made me yank things out of stash or made me try to set my charge card on fire.  Or someone's quilt has made me fly to the sewing machine.  Every blog I read is inspiring and I'm so glad that our paths have crossed.  I can't thank each one of you enough for really making my week.

I'll save the stitchy and thrift/antique shopping finds (and they're good ones) until next time.   I just wanted to thank everyone for their wonderful comments and for the wonderful awards I've received recently before too much time went by.

I wish each and every one of you a wonderful week and to quote my friend Di, stitch until it hurts!!! (hope you don't mind I used that, Di!!!).

This glass was made between 1935-38 by the Hocking Glass company.
This is so special - good luck to the winner!

Deb - your good fortune in finding the flower frog treasure is amazing! I have to admit, I have copied you. And told my friends about your flower frog scissors holders. And they love the idea too - so much so that they are actively looking for flower frogs. Mine is an old, plain, clear glass one that I happened to have in the basement. When I saw what YOU did with them, I brought it up and put all my scissors in it. Unfortunately, my husband thinks you're in cahoots with scissor manufacturers world wide. You see, since using the flower frog, I've decided that I don't have enough scissors and have actively been collecting more. I have one more hole to fill. And I DO love looking at it. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Deb....did you know your pink vase with frog is depression glass? The pattern name is 'Old Colony' or is also known as 'Lace Edge'. It is worth about 30-35 dollars US, and slightly more than that in Canada. I used to collect that pattern. What a good idea to use these as scissors holders!!

Hi Deb,
Looks like you had a wonderful time last week exploring shops lol. Sounds like you have met the perfect lady for your frog collecting. This one is a lovely one.
OK add me to the list. I don't have a scissor frog and this one would be very special to me.
Mylene's scissor fob is beautiful isn't it. It looks lovely hanging with your collection.
Pity about the cake. There is nothing better than a delicious home made birthday cake. You'll have to twist your SIL's arm to make another one in lieu of only making one lol. - Sandra.

A frog, a pretty pink (my favorite color) frog! A perfect place to store all my scissors and a perfect piece to display. Thanks for sharing your good fortune and yes, please add my name to the other 95 ladies listed for the drawing. I'll post about your drawing tomorrow.

Oh, how very fun for you - I want to meet her too! You have to take pictures of all the new pretties that you acquire.

I love cake batter, but not cake. Give me icing, homemade icing - heaps and heaps of icing. Chocolate and cream cheese frosting are my favorite.

I just love your new scissor fob - it is so cute. Do you know the pattern? (still drooling over your artichoke flower frog)

Deb you are an inspiration to all of us. Your stitching is amazing. You don't think twice about picking up a BAP or trying your hand at a new craft. And, you have such a generous heart. Not to mention your talent with a charge card, lol. You truly are deserving of all the awards you have received recently.

I have 1 frog and love it dearly! What a pleasure to pick some blooms from the garden and arrange them for my table. Good luck with your draw!

Must throw my name in. Sure I could buy a frog locally; I have a few antique shops less than 2 miles from my house. But it would physically pain me to pay the $15 they want for a plain glass frog!

Ok, I want cake now. And really, no photo of the cake? What's that about??? How fun that she is bringing more flower frogs in for you next week. I'd love to win the pretty pink one!!

I've seen so many of these flower frogs holding scissors on a lot of blogs lately. I've looked at a few thrift shops for one with no luck. Thanks so much for a chance to win this beauty!!

I've recently discovered your blog and I love what I see! :^)

Please add my name! I would love to have one of those flower frogs. Are they hard to come by in antique stores? We have a town an hours drive from us with lots of antique stores.

Cute scissor keep Mylene stitched up for you!
