Adam Alone Happy Dance

Woo Hoo!  My first finish of 2010!  If I keep going at this rate, I may just have a bunch of finishes this year (okay, don't hold your breath anyone)!!

Adam Alone
Sheepish Designs
DMC threads and WDW 35 ct. Parchment Linen

I love the verse on this piece.

These two rather innocent birdies gave me an untold amount of grief.  I couldn't get them in for the life of me - I kept stitching them wrong!  At 11:00 last night, after ripping them out twice (and they're over one, no less), I called UNCLE and went to bed, but the minute I got up this morning, and everyone was out of the house, I was back in my stitching chair finishing it up.

I did make a couple additions to this - Adam and Eve needed a little bit of improving, so I did some backstitching on them in a darker flesh color.  I probably could have gone a little bit darker, but I think it's okay.  And then I outlined the sheep at the bottom to make them stand out a little better.  This was a lot of fun to stitch and I didn't run screaming down the street because of the Queen Stitches or the over one.

Yesterday, my friend Diane and I had our Christmas lunch (funny how two moms can't find time during the actual holiday to get together) and she surprised me with this:

Is it not beautiful???  These are not the best pictures which is a shame (why does the sun always go away when I want to take pictures), but the finishing is absolutely beautiful and I just love it!  Thank you, thank you Di!!!

Well, that's it for me this time.  Wow, a short post - what a concept!  But I've got to get going because we seem to have a bat flying around the house.  When I left the house to pick up my son this afternoon, my DD called me completely hysterical and said a bat was flying around the house (it could be a bird).  Well, I haven't see it yet so don't know what it is, but there is evidence on the walls that something has been flying around the house.  It probably came in through the furnace vent to the outside.  Looks like I'm going to have some fun tonight!!  Dang, and all I want to do is stitch!!

Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving all your wonderful comments!

Love the finish! Love the present. A bat? And you're going home?

OH, how beautiful! You are such a fast stitcher. Wow! That's a big project there, Deb but oh so gorgeous!

I would be standing on a sofa screaming right now if a bat was flying around my house....ooooooohhh.

Once we had a squirrel come down the fireplace and hubbie was chasing it with a towel around the living room while I was screaming and standing on top of the sofa! LOL
Good luck with that bat.

A bat, a live bat? Oh my - I would declare a family night out and leave all the doors and windows open - sadly that's probably not a good idea for many reasons least of which is that it's freezing cold! We currently have a squirrel(s) in our attic and my husband is attempting to catch it using peanut butter - I suggested bird seed, but he is certain the draw will be peanut butter.

Love AA - another to add to your A&E wall, whoohoo!

Diane did a wonderful job on your ornament - what a special gift.

Enjoy your weekend - Liz is calling my name.

Congrats on a huge finish!! Your changes look great. We have had to deal with bats a couple times. DH puts a baseball hat on....hates them flying around his head...then gets the tennis racket out. I got the last attempt on film. Go check it out, it's pretty funny http://ndmurdock.multiply.com/video/item/17/1st_attempt_at_getting_bat and then the video after it shows him getting it. It was during the summer and you see and hear our whole house fan going in the upstairs.

Gorgeous finish Deb! And a beautiful ornament from your friend too :)

Yay! Beautiful finish!

Ack! Bats are scary! There are a lot in the country my folks are from. They hang from the rafters of public buildings.

Good job Deb!! I love looking at all of your wip's too...they are some of my favorites!! If all else fails with the bat...just tie two popsicle sticks together in a cross, place on your chest and go to sleep!! LOL Good luck and happy stitching.

Beautiful finish!

A bat........hhhmmm........don't know that I'd go home until I got confirmation from the man of the house that it was gone!
Good luck with that!

Adam Alone is fantabulous! Those fig leaves kill me. lol

Good luck with bat, hopefully it'll leave the way it came & stay gone.

Congrats, Deb! I love your Adam Alone and all the little touches you put in. Hope you get rid of the mystery creature quickly and painlessly -- and with the DH doing the getting rid of! That's a nice present from your friend too (forgot to say that!). Good luck!

What a beauty AA is, Deb! You did a great job on it and it was F A S T!!! I love it. Your gift from Di is beautiful. I was just thinking about her today and hoping she is well. I haven't seen a post from her in quite a while.

Be cautious of the bat - they carry rabies and the smallest scratch can cause it. Julie's 2nd cousin in Wisconsin was scratched by a bat she tried to get out of a church and got full blown rabies. She is the only person to ever recover from rabies without having had the antt-rabies medication after being bitten or a rabies vaccine sometime prior to exposure. The article says she was bit by the bat but I think Julie had told me she had been scratched and hadn't thought much about it (hadn't told her mom). Anyway, it was, by all accounts, a miracle. True. You can read about it here: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5350a1.htm

I'm not sure the link will work so if it doesn't, copy and paste into your web browser. It's a miracle of a story.

What a wow piece to have for your first finish of 2010!! Amazingly beautiful, Debbie! Impressed, count moi!

Love the piece that Di stitched for you, it is so very pretty.

I remember being around 6 or 7 and at my grandparent's house, they had this really huge old house, with the super high ceilings, and a bat was in there. I think my grandmother got a broom and shoved it out of a window or something. I know I was scared silly and anytime I see a bat I cringe! Some people think they are cute, well, personally, I don't see anything cute about them. Hope it was just a bird and you were able to get it out safely and no one got hurt!

Loving the A&E finish Deb! Wooohoooo!!!!! The first of the year! Congrats!

Nic said...

What a fab finish! Well done!

Over here, all bats are protected species, so if you have 'bats in the belfry' you can't move them... but hopefully you'll get your little chap out without harm to either him or yourself.

Deb AA is gorgeous and those fig leaves always make me smile.

The ornament from your friend is beautifully done. I haven't yet mastered the art of putting one together and making it look like an ornament. So far I have several stitched but none finished. Do you know the designer & chart name for the ornament Di gave you; would love to have it.

Be careful with getting the bat out of your home. Hopefully it will just turn out to be a bird though.

Deb, that finish is so gorgeous! Congrats--I just love the SD samplers.

I think you should let your little bat friend suggest your next project (other than the BAPs you have planned): maybe something halloweeny? Maybe he's hinting for a project with a bat in it?

Kellie said...

Hope you caught the bat. I would have been hysterical too. LOL! We once had a baby possum come into the first house we lived in. Still not sure how he got in, but he wasn't welcome!

Congrats on your finish! It is beautiful! Looking forward to seeing what your next stitch is going to be.

Congratulations on your finish!

I hope you were able to get the bat out. I remember when I was a little girl we used to have bats in the house once in awhile -- I'll never forget them swooping down at us while hiding under the covers in bed!

And what a finish it is! It's lovely. Congratulations!

Isn't it funny how the littlest thing in a design can be the most annoying?

Oh WOW, WOW, WOW Adam Alone is gorgeous - congrats on your lovely finish.

What a great gift from your friend its a real sweetie.

Bats - I had one once in the house, it just found its own way out the door, with a little bit of encouragement.

Congrats on the wonderful finish! And lovely ornament from Diane.

Funny, pigeons creep me out, but bats don't - in the summer we often have one or two sleeping the day out in a nook on our balcony. Wouldn't like them inside though. Hope you get it out.

Hi Deb,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment on my blog, I really appreciate it! :-)

Your Adam sampler is just gorgeous and such a lot of work! You must be thrilled with it and I love the pillow that your friend stitched. Who is the designer, do you know?

I look forward to finding out if it really was a bat in the house......

Hugs,

It's a lovely sampler. Well done on your finish, I could never stitch something of that size that quick and get such a great result.

I love your present I tried to reading it but kept losing my place.

Oh Deb, what a gorgeous finish!!! You know how much I admire your stitching, and this is one more reason why :o) I wish I could start the year with a finish, but my finishing frenzy always starts around NOvember and lasts until December 31st. Alas... Until then, I'll just come and visit here for a finish fix.
