Stashing and Framing (But Barely Any Stitching)

Woo Hoo!  I finally got some framing back from Joanne's.  It took forever, but they had one of their great sales again, so I was all over that!  Usually it only takes a week or two, but it took four weeks this go around.

Cape Cod Girls
The Primitive Needle
36 ct. Highland Fabric
GAST Threads

I just love the frame for this one.  This picture doesn't do it justice, but it looks like fish scales with small flecks of gold in real life!  Very perfect for the piece!  Sometimes it surprises me that Joanne's actually has some great frames.

I also picked up Queen Bee by Shepherd's Bush:

Queen Bee
Shepherd's Bush Kit

I love the framing on this one too!  These are not the best pictures.  It's been cloudy as heck with little bursts of sun.  Taking a picture inside is hopeless, and just as I'd get outside, the sun would go away again.  Michigan weather for ya!

Stalking of the mailman proved successful this week!  He hates when boxes or large envelopes come because our mailbox is at the curb.  If he has to get out of his truck and walk up the drive and walkway, he gets cranky.  Poor man - he'll get over it!  The day he brought this package, the squirrels were in our Oak tree tossing acorns down at the poor guy.  He came up rubbing his head telling me we had vicious squirrels!  HA!

But I was doing a happy dance.  I love getting stash in the mail!  The box included Paradise Lost by Plum Street Samplers, A Mind Independent and Free by Carriage House Samplings, In the Garden by Milady's Needle (and Lois from the Elegant Stitch also included the Little Gems scissors with it), and the Kelmscott Adam and Eve Needleminder.

Then I just had to have The Multiplication Table Examplar (although I don't know if I'll dish out the $80.00 for the hornbook - may have to be a project for my FIL), and Sarah Woodham by Shakespeare Peddler.

Then, of course, I just had to add to the scissor collection, so I got the Tudor Rose Scissors, and then while picking up my framing, I found the new scissors by Gingher which I had to have.  I have a lot of flower frogs to fill.

Then a couple of weeks ago, I won a Giveaway on M Designs site:

Sisters Needleminder by Kelmscott Designs

It was a great giveaway that included the JCS Christmas Ornament Issue (which I was tickled over because I couldn't find it in my neck of the woods), four of her Angel Charts, Miss Mary Mack's Pincushion and Miss Mary Mack's Needleroll.  She also included the Sisters beautiful Kelmscott Needleminder.  Okay, now don't you think that's enough?  Well, I guess I didn't.  I must be getting really itchy for some stitching on something else besides Ann.  I ended up ordering three more charts from The Strawberry Patch yesterday because they were having a Wacky Wednesday sale and all Country Stitches patterns were on sale.  I definitely think that my DH needs to take that smokin' charge card out of my hands. Either that or he'll divorce me when that bill comes!  But hey, 30% off is 30% off, right?  I'm saving money, right?

So lots of stash, and no time to do any of them.  Once again, stitching has taken a backseat to everything else - basketball games (DD's team 3-0 - Go Vikings), parent/teacher conferences, DH being out of town so for some reason I don't sit down until late, so no pictures of Ann this go-around.  I know you're all probably getting sick of her like me!  Okay, I'll give you one - does this thing not look like some kind of Pterodactyl?  It seems huge in comparison to the rest of the piece.

I actually tried to get myself to stitch something else the other night.  I pulled out a cute Halloween piece by Mary Garry, found some fabric and the threads and thought that it would only take me a night or two to stitch.  Did I?  Of course, not!  I started to pull the threads out and that danged bird above started screeching at me!  Dang!   Ann is relentless, let me tell ya!  Although, quite truthfully, I think it's me.  I really want to see her done and hanging near And They Sinned.  I started her December 31st 2005.  I'd really like to (if I'm not lucky enough beforehand) to put the last stitches in before December 31st 2009.

Well, that's it for me.  Thank you everyone for the wishes about my cold/flu thing.  I'm feeling much, much better now.  My SIL said that it had to have been Swine because the regular flu hasn't even hit the State yet.   I'm still coughing and sniffling, but that's nothing compared to what it was.  All I know is that it was miserable. But thanks so much for the wishes and for your comments. I love every one of them.

Have a great weekend and make a lot of X's.

Dear Deb, so sorry you have been so ill!! Flog me with a wet noodle, my blog reading, has definitely be amiss as of late! Even my email answering, but we won't go there!!

Gosh, I just love those frame choices, they are way cool, just perfect for those special stitcheries!! Lucky you!!!

Love your new acquisitions, you scored big and good on those! I am itching to do most of them, but since they arrived at the shop, I have been good and not even kitted them, cuz I know when that happens, it is a dangerous thing! LOL

Hope you feel MUCH better really soonish!! (((hugs))

Oh, your frames - love them. The one for Cape Cod girls is just perfect - I am going to go google the closest Joann's right now.

Haha, that bird is monstrous - good thing you stitched him as he might have given you nightmares squawking 'finish me, finish me'

Love all your new goodies - the mailman was my best friend yesterday too (not sure I was his).

Enjoy your day.

Oh Deb - I love your choice of framing for these two pieces and I am astounded that JoAnn's did them - I'm not sure if the one by me does framing - I actually avoid that place like the plague - the traffic over that way is horrendous - however if they have gorgeous stuff like that and great coupon prices - ummmm - might need to check that out.

Love your stash and your prize winnings are nice too.

Ann - gorgeous - well what can I say - you have to be strong and be diligent to finish those huge hulking pieces - apparently I am neither LOL !

Have I encouraged you to pick up the knitting needles yet? You know my whole agenda is to bring my stitching friends over to the wool side - LOL - Enjoy! Mel

The frame for CCG looks just like fish scales - I love it - it's PERFECT! The frame for the Queen Bee is beautiful as well.

Ann is something else! I wish everyone could feast their eyes on it in person - believe me, it's something special!!! That bird is pretty wild!

GREAT stash haul and I loved the story about your crazy squirrel.

Have a great evening - see you Sunday!

Your framed pieces are gorgeous as usual! I see you have obtained Paradise Lost, my favorite out of the needlework market this season.

Since you live in the big suburbs, you get the good BIG Joannes. The ones in BC and Kazoo don't have framing and the one in Angola has to be the world's smallest Joannes. It's almost comical! Go Van Hoosen!!!!
Looks like great stash too. Love the new scissors.

I absolutely love, love, love your newly framed pieces...and the fins with gold flecks frame...LOVELY!
I had those Mia's in my hand with a 40% off coupon and put them back because the pair I had looked ugly. But your pair there looks lovely...now maybe I need to go back to that store and search the pairs they have.
I'm glad you got over the flu. Type A flu is in Indiana...I've been testing it positive for the past 6 weeks on patients. If you had H1N1,then good for you! It's overwith and you survived :)

I have to get that Plum Street pattern. It is my favorite Adam and Eve sampler! All of you Adam and Eve lovers are finally rubbing off on me, and I would love to start a collection.
I love you frame of Cape Cod girls, and Queen Bee! It's nice to get them past that point for sure.
Take Care! I'm missing our chats.

So, the framing was worth the wait; yes? Lovely choices! Ah, isn't stashing just SO much fun? And the screaming needlework - how can one tolerate without obliging? I don't know, either. Glad you're feeling better!

Deb said...

Hi, Deb,
What horrible news about that flu. So glad you're over it. And, what a stash you've accummulated. I have a sneakin' suspicion that there's more around the corner...and a poor lumpy-headed post man soon coming to your door! Don't you just love the "Adam & Eve" needleminder and the Tudor Rose scissors? They are my favs of the market.
Stay well dear friend,
Deb

I love your new stash!! And your framing. I missed the post where you met Lori, too cooolll! I am so envious. Bummer that the show was to pricey.

Hi Deb, just wanted to tell you that your framed pieces look lovely. The frame with the snake skin look is amazing.
What another great collection of stash that you have acquired. Love the A&E needleminder. I have the 2 Sisters one as well. - Sandra.

You are too funny girl! My DH just doesn't understand why you have to spend money in order to save money. I look at it as I am going to spend it anyway so why not save some money while I am at it. That way there is extra to buy something else. LOL
I LOVE your Cape Cod Girls, the frame is absolutely PERFECT! Queen Bee is sweet also. I think I stalk the mailman at my workplace. Every time he comes in I say is there anything for me? Especially if there is a large envelope, I have alot of my stash sent to my work address, this way the hubby doesn't see it and I can get it a few hours earlier than I would if I had it sent to my home address.
Great giveaway gifts and love the scissors, is the milk glass frog full yet???

Sorry to hear your nasty bug has clung onto you for so dang long. Hope you get feeling your best real soon!!! Take care.

Deb, I just found your blog and can see that my entire afternoon will be spent drooling over things! Love the framing that you show on the most recent post but I have a question about something in your September 30 post. What is that lovely, yummy, to-die-for white ceramic piece that your scissors are shown in and where can I find one? I'm always looking for a way to display my needlework pretties and this is so perfect for the scissors that I can't stand it! Thanks so much.

Deb said...

Carol - I couldn't find an email address so that I could email you privately. That is a flower frog that I found at an antique store here in Holly, Michigan. I have tried to find others like it both at antique stores in my area and on Ebay and some other sites to no avail. I would love to have another one as I've just about filled this one up. If you went through my blog, you can see that I also have found others, just not as unique as that. If you are interested in any of the other ones, let me know. My email is in my profile.
