Stitchy Weekend

Ah, tulips. A true sign of Spring, right? Well, it's suppose to be Spring, right? If you look closely though, you'll see snow on the deck railing in the background. Perhaps a better picture would be this:

This was outside our front door yesterday. And yes, those big pieces of white stuff are snow! When will Spring ever get here????

I took advantage of the miserable weather though (and I think also took an extension on my "do nothing" attitude) and stitched.

I finished up Block 2 of Shores:

I started the City Stitcher's Adam and Eve Sampler. Excuse the rather bad pic, but again, it's cloudy around here.

Then I decided to start another A&E sampler. This one is from Examplars from the Heart called The Evil Serpent Sampler. Kind of wonky colors, but I think it's fun to have something that looks a little different.

My do nothing attitude (as far as housework, etc.) continued through the weekend because of a purchase my husband made this weekend. I was miffed. I don't usually get miffed. I'm pretty laid back. But on Friday night my DH came home with a 52" TV. Could this purchase have been because of the NCAA Final Four Tournament coming up? I don't know, but probably. You know how those men are? Need that big screen for the games and then laugh outrageously at those dumb-assed beer commercials! Men are definitely a different breed. I'm thinking that it was an impulse purchase because we have other things that need to be purchased. Like how about a dishwasher because mine hasn't worked in two years? Or how about a new cooktop because my current one has a burner from hell and while I've told my DH over and over again that it's getting hard to cook on the thing, it wasn't until he set the damned thing on fire that he finally said let's get a new one. We haven't yet! My son even told me that my DH said that I would probably blow a gasket! I didn't, but there are ways to get even, which I did a little later.

Okay, I should explain here. We're doing some renovations and trying to hold off until we decide exactly what we're going in the kitchen. But still, I could buy a dishwasher instead of having dish pan hands (I don't, I use gloves, but that's not the point) - it could be used after the renovations as I know what appliances I'm getting. But no, we need a large screen TV. The boys are in heaven. My son instantly grabbed his Xbox and played some shoot-em-up game with his buddies on Xbox Live (love those blood splatters). Then DD swooped in with her Twilight video because she just had to see Edward large and in her face! Then of course, there were the NCAA games. So I just parked my hynie in the chair and stitched.

At some point they all looked at me with expectancy in their eyes - the expectancy of dinner. Now here was pay back time! I slowly raised my eyes up from my stitching and said, "I wonder if I can cook dinner and wash the dishes on the big screen?" All male eyes went to the floor and DH slowly slithered off the couch and made dinner. I had myself a good laugh. I think my point was made! HA!!!! I may just continue this "do nothing" attitude. I have an excuse now, right? Now, I can just sit on my butt all week and find movies with my favorite male actors and drool! BTW, I didn't know that Ann Curry had that many moles on her face! Nothing like a big screen!

Hope everyone gets a lot of stitching done this week. I sure plan to!!

All of your WIPs progress look wonderful Deb.

Yep you definitely made your point! LOL! What is it with men and TVs??? I have one here who thinks the TV is the most important item in the house!

Since Friday we are snow-free, and I hope it will stay like that.
I love your update on Shores and the two new starts you were making. Great! I have some City Stitcher charts and must admit that I love their designs very much. Maybe I should stitch one, lol.
It's great that you made your point concerning that big screen. LOL.

Love the WIPs and your point was definitely made. A lot of years ago my friend needed a new stove but her dh went and bought a new camera instead with the money. She took a photo of a new stove and had it blown up and put where the new one should have gone and then went on strike! She definitely had my admiration. Love Patti xxx

Oh My, I think he heard you! LOL

Lovely lovely stitching and even that snow is pretty, although I know it isn't welcome this time of year!

OMFG - ROTFLMAO!!!!! That was a PERFECT response!!! Men! They can be such dorks sometimes, can't they?? But, well, they are useful to have around sometimes, and we do love them anyway... sigh. Most days. ;) Great progress on Shores, and I really love the Evil Serpent start! Enjoy your day!

You certainly made some great progress, and I love your new A&E piece, especially the colours!

Differing opinions about large purchases ... another good reason not to have a husband! LOL! Hope things aren't too tense over there.

Your spring pictures look like ours, but we're thrilled to get the snow. Feel free to send any extra back to Colorado.

Great progress, great starts, great comeback!!!!!

I think you should order, not only a new stove, but lots of new stash, too!

Oh Deb! Your comment about Ann Curry's moles had me rolling on the floor! lol! We don't have a big screen tv, or even a flat screen, so I wouldn't know! I feel for you on the cooktop and the dishwasher. I would definitely go for the do-nothing if I were you! There's no way I'd live without a dishwasher for 2 years!!! You're a saint! BTW, love your WIPs! Beautiful! Snow I could do without though. lol!

Your Shores is lovely as are your WIP's.
I think you made your point with your DH. Men!

Beautiful progress on all your wips Deb! Too funny about the T.V. and your dh! My dh and sons would have just kept on staring at me! :)

Wow, Deb. What a contrast between the tulips and snow. I have to say that it looks beautiful outside there, but I'm sure you're sick of it. Can't wait to see your progress on the A&E. It's a fun one.

I love the Evil Serpent Sampler - never seen it before! I've got to stop coming to your blog!!!!! Good for you making your point. Maybe you should keep up with your do nothing but stitch attitude...I'll come over.

What IS it with men and big screen TV's? I just.don't.get.it.!

Love your stitching, you're working on a couple of things that are on my "to do someday" pile. You're making great progress already :-)

Laughing like crazy! I don't know how I missed your post this weekend, but I'm sorry I did.
You now have a great excuse to stitch away for quite a while. While your at it, better get some stitching stuff you've been wanting to go along with that!
Thanks for the Shores update. I'm working on block 3 now. I'm hoping to keep up with you. I love the other things you're working on as well. Fun stuff! Have a great week. Hopefully your hubby will buy you a new dishwasher soon.

Right and fair !
Does the big screen make the beds and dust the furniture as well ?

ROFLOL, Deb!! YGG!! Yes, it's amazing the priorities, isn't it? I feel for you, because my DH is much the same way as yours. The only way that I got our dishwasher fixed was to point blank refuse to wash dishes any more. He did it one or two nights and then the repairman was called. Funny how that works! I do have to say, though, that I find your DD's need to see Edward up close and personal very understandable.

Your Shores block #2 is wonderful! I love it. I didn't know you were going to start the A&E by City Stitcher, too! You and Tanya are making this sooooo hard for me to resist. I might just cave and stitch it, too. What fabric are you using? I've never seen the Evil Serpent sampler before--I must search it out and see if I can get it, too. Love your start!

Oh, I love your blog Deb... such gorgeous, gorgeous stitching and wonderfully witty posts! :) I love both your A&E new starts and you know I want to start searching my online shops for them right now! ;)

Oh, and I think your *do nothing attitude* should continue at least until next week! I think you need lots of Me time in front of that Big Screen with some Jane Austen films and lots of other wonderful to stitch by films with handsome men! ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog... I've been haunting yours for a while as I just LOVE reading your posts and drooling over your stitching! :)

Oh, and the Tulips are gorgeous as is the snow... I'm running now! ;)

Blessings and love always in stitches...
